This international investment and private bank in Zurich is looking to boost the level of support it offers one of its key private bankers. To do this they are looking to recruit an Assistant to work alongside this professional, a position they have titled Assistant to the Private Banker.
The Assistant to the Private Banker is far more than a secretary or administrator, in many respects they are a real number two to the banker
. They overall task is to help the private banker acquire, provide private banking services to and to retain a customer base made up of high and ultra high net worth investors. The Assistant to the Private Banker will be introduced to all of these individuals as a key contact for handling day to day banking matters. The main secondary duty of the Assistant to the Private Banker is to support the private banker in all marketing activity and help them achieve their growth targets.
Over three quarters of the Assistant to the Private Bankerâs time will be spent in managing and administering daily private banking matters for the clients. These can and will include going to meetings, preparing documentation, writing letters and emails informing the customers of recent developments and undertaking annual customer reviews. To succeed at these tasks and resolve customer issues will require seamless working with many other departments at the bank including operations, middle office, investment management, credit and compliance.
Helping the banker to ensure his clients all meet the banks rigorous compliance and KYC requirements will also take a great deal of the Assistant to the Private Bankerâs day. There are number of compliance controls, procedures and risk management tools that need to be monitored. The Assistant to the Private Banker will also mange the private bankers diary, prepare their client briefs prior to important meetings and flag news that could impact upon the bankers clientele.
There is also a major element of sales support for the Assistant to the Private Banker to handle. They will review and support the relationship with each customer, working in close concert with the private banker to make sure a top notch service is provided.
Lastly the Assistant to the Private Banker will undertake a number of essential private banking transactions for the clients, as and when required. These will include financial transactions and account status reports.
For serious consideration for the Assistant to the Private Banker you should have worked for at least two years in another bank or asset manager in a senior administrative role. It is expected you will be able to demonstrate considerable client facing experience as well.
You will need a fairly advanced knowledge of the financial markets, economics and banking in general and be able to converse around the most common financial products and instruments that are marketed by private banks.
You will understand the implications of increasing regulation on the banks and their clients in general and have a basic understanding of how KYC and AML work.
You will be a skilled communicator in writing as well as verbal. You must be fluent in English, with German being a definite advantage as well. Finally you will need strong IT skills around the standard Microsoft office productivity suite and it would be useful if you had some basic understanding of desktop publishing and the common tools used.
