The M & A practice of this Zurich based investment bank is looking to add a skilled Senior M & A Specialist to its ranks. The role is central to expansion plans for this business unit into specific industrial sectors and growing markets.
Key to the Senior M&A Specialist role is the need to define and revise the banks M & A guidebook and set of practical manuals. It is expected there will be an ongoing project and requirement for the Senior M & A Specialist to maintain the data, monitor its usage and effectiveness and present a series of regular improvements. These improvements will be considered by the
senior M & A management team and the banks investment council for their specific suitability for inclusion. Behind each of these guidelines it is expected the Senior M & A Specialist will take a lead role in defining, creating and refining the processes that the M & A team will follow to meet the guidelines. Indeed these will be used beyond merely the M & A department as other business units and colleagues from other teams in the bank will also employ them.
Once the M & A processes have been defined it falls to the Senior M & A Specialist to ensure they are rolled out in an effective and disciplined manner. At all times the Senior M&A Specialist must make sure that key stakeholders and managers are involved, and indeed bought into the roll out of new processes and guidelines. It is also a requirement to report back to the senior management team upon their effectiveness and use; in the form of easy to digest metrics and measurements.
Besides ensuring the bank is using its M & A resource effectively via well constructed processes the Senior M&A Specialist is expected to assist the bank in finding new M & A projects and business to focus upon. As an expert in the M & A marketplace the successful applicant to this well paid Zurich M&A job will build up a database of prospects, divestment candidates, suspects, potential buyers and hot leads. These in turn will be feed to the banks client facing teams to pursue, at which point the Senior M & A Specialist can be expected to take a role in briefing their colleagues and acting as a source of expertise and
knowledge that can be leveraged. In a similar you can expect to act as project co-coordinator for M & A campaigns and supervisor for the virtual M & A teams the bank puts together to go after specific deals. Your role will be to act as the in house expert to bounce ideas off, discuss potential deals and advise how to structure the deals themselves. A great deal of this activity will be in close co-ordination with the corporate banking teams and credit departments.
On occasion the bank will require an expert that they can introduce to key partners and industry players. The Senior M & A Specialist will take up those duties and can expect to be asked to demonstrate their M & A knowledge and skills to a selected audience. Like wise there is the possibility of the bank using the successful candidate to this vacancy in a number of media facing roles as the banks lead "expert".
For serious consideration for the Senior M&A Specialist opening you should fit the following ideal applicant profile:
-At least five years working in a M & A advisory role for another bank or consultancy house. You will have lead individual M & A deals to completion on a number of occasions and have the ability to structure a new deal from the ground up.
- You will have excellent process re-engineering skills and an interest in business efficiency drivers / methodologies like LEAN
- Fluent in English, with fluency in German and / or Spanish a real bonus.
- Educated to degree level, in a numerate subject.
